Exhibition Carlo Büchner
Raiffeisenbank 2011

Everyday life skewered
Carlo Büchner from Sexau is exhibiting in Reute
REUTE (piz). His caricatures are not current, his
themes are not global political conflicts, but
rather they are things from everyday life, captured
in a relaxed and funny way, which the graphic
artist and cartoonist Carlo Büchner from Sexau
shows in the rooms of the Raiffeisenbank in Reute.
The cartoons thrive on depicting everyday
situations that every viewer can understand. The
characters are true to life and extremely humorous.
The fact that Carlo Büchner doesn't necessarily
appreciate Christmas is reflected in some of his
caricatures. It starts with the anticipation of the
festival and the two-part picture. “Cable fire and
tree fire”. Only rubble and skeletons remain of two
festively illuminated houses - you can almost feel
the glee. Before the "tree fire" there was a
dispute about whether real or electric candles
should be used - now it's gone. The painter takes a
lot of things from the humorous side, for example
in the picture “Smoking Table” or “The Optimist”,
and the caricature “Size” is also very appealing.
The state-certified graphic designer Büchner was
already drawing recognizable shapes on toilet paper
at the age of four. He himself, he says, never
thought that painting would become the foundation
of his profession. But it continued throughout his
school career. In 2007, after training as a
wholesaler, Büchner attended the Academy for
Communication in Freiburg, specializing in graphic
design. He was back, he says, in the world of
design and felt very comfortable with it. He came
to graphics through drawing and humor through
graphics, which is why he founded “Carlo Büchner
Arts”. Under this name, a large number of works
were created in the areas of cartoons, poetry,
building drawings, portraits, caricatures and
paintings, as well as book and poster
illustrations. Büchner drew the Freiburg Cathedral
for the Münsterbauverein, which was auctioned off
for the benefit of the association.

Vernissage opened by Carlo Büchner Arts
in the Raiffeisenbank branch in Reute
Yesterday evening the exhibition by Carlo Büchner
Arts opened in the premises of Raiffeisenbank eG
Gundelfingen. Relatives, friends and acquaintances
did not want to miss the second opening.
Valentin Hettich, board member of Raiffeisenbank eG
Gundelfingen, started things off. “As a Reutem
native, it is a pleasure for him to be able to
welcome the vernissage of a Reutemer all-rounder in
the Reutem branch today. Multi-talented because not
only the drawings play an important role in
Büchner's work, but also the art of poetry. Carlo
Büchner’s illustrations are very profound and show
anecdotes from his own life.” It's nice that so
many young people are showing interest in this
opening.
The artist then addressed the guests in a
skillfully charming and humorous manner. He thanked
the Raiffeisenbank for its support, especially
Thomas Danner, Reute branch manager, who pushed
forward the idea for this exhibition. But also with
Valentin Hettich, board member of Raiffeisenbank eG
Gundelfingen, with Ulrike Bauer, organization
Raiffeisenbank Gundelfingen and with all those who
actively supported him in realizing his opening.
24-year-old Carlo Büchner laid the foundation for
his professional career early on. Starting with
doodles in school notebooks, the trained wholesaler
found his way into the world of design in 2007. In
2007 he began his training at the Academy for
Communication (specializing in graphic design) in
Freiburg. In 2008, alongside his training, he
founded his own business “Carlo Büchner Arts”. In
2010 he graduated from the academy as a state-
certified graphic designer and has since dedicated
himself to artistic work in the areas of: cartoons,
poetry, building drawings, portraits, caricatures,
paintings, book and poster illustrations, but also
film recordings for theaters and events.
